Tarte Flambée and Klevener

This story was posted under the categories: Food & Drinks

While driving to Switzerland i stopped at a small place called Heiligenstein, located in the French Alsace. As always, i was looking for a decent grab of food and was lucky enough to enjoy a local festival which brought out two of the greatest specialities of the region: Tarte Flambée and Klevener.

Klevener and Tarte FlambéeThe first one is a sort of Pizza made of cheese, creme ognions and bacon, which is baked in an oven over open flames (so it’s not really flambé as with liquor and so).

Klevener on the other hand is a fruity wine, which at first tastes really too much like lemonade but you get really addicted to it after a couple of glasses :)
